ZAMY STEYNOVITZ
AMBASSADOR OF PEACE - ANGELIC ARTIST
In January, 2001 my husband, Charles and I took a cruise on Carnival's PARADISE. While on the cruise I saw a painting that was going to be auctioned by PARK WEST at their Auction at Sea. The moment I laid eyes on the painting, I knew I had to find out about the artist. The style reminded me of Marc Chagall and yet I knew it wasn't Chagall.
I attended my first art auction at sea on Monday, January 15th and on that day I was introduced to the talent of Zamy Steynovitz.
Born in Poland in 1951, Zamy studied at the Art School of Tel Aviv and at the Royal Academy of London. His images are reflections of his Jewish and East European heritage. Zamy is one of Israel's most popular artists and had studios in both New York and Tel Aviv. Widely exhibited, he was honored by Heads of State throughout the world. His works have been presented by official bodies to President Jimmy Carter, Prime Minister Begin, Pope John Paul II and the Dalai Lama.
Zamy was commissioned to do the official portrait of peace for the proposals between Israel and Egypt in 1977. He was the number one student of Marc Chagall.
Even though Zamy died of cancer on September 1, 2000, his spirit
continues to bless the planet through his paintings of joyousness, peace, sanctity of family and love. His works of art are rich with color and goodness.
When I saw his art, I felt like I was seeing the glorious work of a brother. Though I never had the blessed opportunity to meet Zamy in person, I 'knew' Zamy from his art.
I ended up buying a number of Zamy's paintings which will be on display in the classroom space of our home - Angel Heights in Upperco, Maryland.
I knew I had to contact Zamy's family in Israel as I knew that Zamy had reached out to me as a fellow peacemaker to bring peace to his family...to comfort them. 'Blessed are those that mourn for they shall be comforted.'
Through the kindness of an art dealer I was able to obtain the address of Zamy's family and wrote them immediately. I received a precious letter back from Zamy's brother. He shared with me that the day I first saw and bought Zamy's paintings - January 15, 2001 - would have been Zamy's 50th birthday. Additionally he sent to me via e-mail a drawing of an angel that Zamy had made at age 14. Zamy is truly an angelic artist!
I shared with Zamy's family that there are very special people among us who are on God assignments. The assignments are not for as long as we would like them to be. We would love for Zamy to still be with us here on earth because we miss him. However, even though Zamy's life was short in the number of human years, in God years his life is an eternal blessing.
While here on earth, Zamy was truly an Ambassador of Peace and he continues to serve as an Ambassador of Peace in heaven. I know God had a special studio waiting for Zamy on September 1, 2000 and Zamy continues to shower us from heaven with his angelic energies of peace. Though I never had the good fortune to meet Zamy while he was here in his physical body, I have met him in the eternal goodness of God. I consider precious Zamy a spiritual brother who inspires me from heaven with his artisan energies. For more of Zamy's inspiring art visit: www.steynovitz-zamy.com
